What does it take to lead men into meaningful worship? For church leaders preparing to host the 2027 No Regrets Men’s Conference, the answer goes far beyond choosing great songs and assembling a talented worship team.
In a recent episode of the No Regrets Leadership Podcast, Executive Director Albo Esilaba sat down with longtime No Regrets worship leader Sean Keith to discuss how churches can create worship environments where men feel invited to encounter God, engage authentically, and grow in their faith.
Worship Is About Leading People, Not Just Songs
After more than 25 years in worship ministry, Sean has learned an important lesson: Worship leadership isn’t about generating a response. It’s about creating an opportunity for God to work in people’s hearts. That perspective became deeply personal when Sean faced stage-four kidney cancer. After surgery, he returned to church but couldn’t sing. Instead, he stood silently, sometimes weeping, while others worshiped around him.
The experience transformed how he viewed the people he led. Churches are filled with men carrying burdens we may never see—broken relationships, financial pressures, addiction, grief, and spiritual struggles. Their outward expressions don’t always reveal what God is doing within them. For church leaders, that means extending grace while creating opportunities for men to take their next step toward Jesus.
Three Ways to Engage Men in Worship
Sean offers practical guidance for churches, particularly those preparing to host the No Regrets Conference:
- Choose songs men can sing. Consider vocal ranges and select keys that encourage participation, so men don’t struggle to follow.
- Choose lyrics with depth and meaning. Songs should help men proclaim who God is, express their need for Him, and respond to His invitation.
- Create an environment that invites participation. Understand your congregation’s culture, remove unnecessary distractions, and gently challenge men to step out of their comfort zones.
As Sean reminds leaders, worship isn’t about personal preferences or musical performance. It’s about serving the people God has entrusted to us.
More Than a Conference. An Opportunity for Discipleship.
The 2027 No Regrets Men’s Conference, Follow Me, allows churches to help men take meaningful steps toward becoming followers of Jesus who invest in others.
For host site leaders, worship is an important part of that journey. Whether a man sings enthusiastically or stands quietly, God may be doing something significant in his heart. Your role is to create the opportunity. Trust God with the transformation.
